# Introduction

## Base URL

## Authentication

Send your API key with every request:

```
Authorization: Bearer ak_eu_...
```

The prefix (`ak_eu_`, `ak_us_`) is the region of the key's project: an EU key only works against the EU API. The region is chosen when you create the project in the dashboard.

## Conventions

* Every `POST` accepts `Idempotency-Key`. See [errors and idempotency](/en/guides/errors).
* Lists are paginated with `limit` (1–100) and `cursor`; the response includes `next_cursor`.
* IDs are prefixed: `doc_` (documents, artifacts included), `out_` (their files), `file_`, `evt_`, `req_`.
