# What is a PPTX file

> PPTX is Microsoft PowerPoint's presentation format since 2007, a ZIP package of XML from the Office Open XML standard.

**PPTX** is Microsoft PowerPoint's default presentation format since PowerPoint 2007. It is a ZIP package that follows
the [Office Open XML](/en/glossary/ooxml) standard (PresentationML): each slide is an XML part that relies on a slide
layout, a slide master and a theme with colors and fonts. Charts are stored as native objects with their data.

## Why it matters when generating documents with AI

* Slides that use the presentation's layouts and theme keep the same look when someone adds more later.
* A native chart can be edited in PowerPoint; a picture of a chart cannot.
* Text does not shrink to fit its box by itself: if it is long, it overflows, a common failure when a model writes the
  content.
* Shapes off the slide, empty placeholders or text that is too small make a deck look careless even if the file is
  valid.

## With Doconda

With `format: "pptx"`, Doconda creates a 16:9 presentation with native charts and a theme that slides you add will
follow, plus its PDF ([Create](/en/guides/create)). If you pass your own presentation, it is used as the template. When
[reviewing](/en/guides/review), it detects and fixes text overflowing its box, shapes off the slide and empty
placeholders.
