# Introduction

> Doconda is the API that creates, reviews and edits documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF) for AI agents.

Your agent asks for a document; Doconda returns a **truly editable Word file** (plus its PDF), in the requested style and with no layout glitches. The model never writes Word: it writes content, and our engine builds the `.docx` with real styles (`Normal`, `Heading 1`…), so anyone can keep editing it.

  Doconda is in beta: **create** (from a sentence, from your text or using your files as sources), **review** and **edit** (Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF) already work.

Create, review and edit share one endpoint, `POST /documents`, and run in three [modes](/en/guides/modes): direct, `stream` (watch the document being written) or `background`.

  Formats: `docx` (Word + PDF), `pdf` (PDF only), `pptx` (PowerPoint + PDF), `xlsx` (Excel + PDF) and `artifact`: a web page with its own database ([artifacts](/en/guides/artifacts)). If you don't say, Doconda infers it from your sentence. Inside a Word file or a PDF, Doconda decides on its own what kind of document it is (report, letter, contract, memo, minutes) and gives it its base layout, which the style then adjusts.
